In recent days, a significant increase in the water level of the Kura River has been recorded. The current situation has affected the operation of some pump stations that serve agricultural lands and draw water from the river.
This was reported by the Press Service of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan.
It was stated that in order to prevent emerging risks and ensure the safety of technical facilities, the Regional Water Melioration Service under the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan has temporarily removed pump stations located in high-risk areas from the shore and suspended their operations.
“This step is aimed at preventing possible negative impacts and more serious consequences. Currently, the situation is being constantly monitored by the Service, and at the same time, water supply is being continued through alternative sources. Once the water level stabilizes, it is planned to gradually put the pump stations back into operation. Citizens are requested to treat the current situation with understanding and rely only on official information. The public will be regularly informed about further updates,” the statement noted.
