On April 17, an information session on “Rules of ethical conduct for judges and lawyers” was held for candidates for judges and lawyers, legal professionals, attorneys, as well as legal experts working in courts and other government agencies, organized jointly by the Judicial-Legal Council, the Bar Association, and the “Institute of Law and Human Rights” public legal entity.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Institute’s Board, Mahammad Guluzade, emphasized the special importance of ethical conduct principles in the legal system. He noted that adherence to high ethical standards in the professional activities of judges and lawyers directly affects the quality of justice. In this regard, the organization of such educational events makes a significant contribution to the development of the professional knowledge and skills of legal professionals, as well as the formation of a legal culture.
Rashad Hasanli, Deputy Head of the Office of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who spoke at the session, provided detailed information on the rules of ethical conduct for judges, the fundamental principles of professional activity, and the international standards applied in this field. Subsequently, Javid Aliyev, Chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivered a presentation on the rules of ethical conduct for lawyers, discussing the lawyer’s relationship with clients, interactions with courts and other bodies, as well as the importance of building professional relationships and their continuous development.
In the continuation of the information session, Vali Abdullayev, Chairman of the Shirvan Court of Appeal, and Saadat Baktashi, member of the Institute’s Expert Council and former judge, answered questions from participants regarding ethical violations encountered in the activities of judges and lawyers.
Within the framework of the session, participants exchanged views on real-life examples and reviewed ways to ensure ethical conduct.
