Import of exotic fruits to Azerbaijan increased by nearly 21%

In January-February of this year, 633.5 tons of exotic fruits worth 1.17 million US dollars were imported to Azerbaijan from foreign countries.

“Elchi” reports, citing the State Statistical Committee, that this figure increased by 20.7% in value terms and 2.8% in volume compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, 407.7 tons of pineapples worth 493 thousand US dollars and 207.5 tons of avocados worth 598.98 thousand US dollars were imported into the country. At the same time, 18 tons of guava, mango, and mangosteen worth 73.6 thousand US dollars, 110 kilograms of papaya worth 1,030 US dollars, and 10 kilograms of durian worth 130 US dollars were brought in.

Regarding the countries of import, pineapples were mainly imported from Costa Rica, China, and Panama, while avocados were imported from Peru, Israel, and Kenya. Guava, mango, and mangosteen were supplied from Brazil and Peru, and papaya and durian were supplied from Thailand.

It should be noted that in January-February of the current year, a total of 83,846 tons of fruits and vegetables worth 74 million 659 thousand US dollars were imported to Azerbaijan from foreign countries.
