Ministry: Applications received by the police regarding domestic violence are handled sensitively

The prevention of violence against women, the strengthening of family relations, and the protection of children’s rights are among the main priority directions of Azerbaijan’s state policy. The implementation of targeted measures in this area, public awareness, and the formation of support mechanisms for victims are of particular importance.

“Elchi” reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs that this was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ismat Aliyev on March 3 at the scientific-practical conference organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the topic “Strategic Cooperation in Preventing Violence Against Women: Opportunities and Prospects”.
He noted that the investigation of applications received by police bodies regarding family conflicts, as well as domestic violence, is approached with particular sensitivity, and that in the field of preventing crimes, including acts of domestic violence committed against women and children, the Ministry, together with relevant state bodies, takes comprehensive measures.

Representatives of state bodies, non-governmental organizations, and experts provided detailed information on the implementation of state policy in the fight against violence against women, the work done, and the tasks ahead, and noted that legislative acts and national programs in this area serve to prevent violence, protect victims, and foster an environment of zero tolerance in society.

At the event, video clips on the topics “Provision of Social and Legal Assistance to Women Subjected to Violence” and “Severe Consequences and Legal Responsibility of Early Marriages” were shown.

Speeches were heard on the topics “Legal Violations Committed on the Grounds of Family-Domestic Issues”, “Severe Consequences and Legal Responsibility of Early Marriages”, as well as “Kidnapping for Marriage (Bride Kidnapping)”, and extensive and useful discussions were held on existing challenges and issues of mutual interest in this area.
