Araghchi calls on the UN to condemn US sanctions

Iran has called on the UN to condemn the US use of coercive measures and secondary sanctions.

elchi reports that this was stated in a letter addressed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

“Iran also requests the United Nations Secretary-General to assess and report on the humanitarian and human rights consequences of these measures, including their impact on the access of civilians to food, medicine, healthcare, energy, transport, humanitarian aid, and other necessary conditions for a dignified life, as well as to ensure the independent assessment, documentation, and preservation of relevant evidence for the future,” the letter stated.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran reserves the right to pursue all available avenues for reparation and may hold the perpetrators accountable:

“The United States bears full international responsibility for the damages caused to the Iranian people and, where individual criminal responsibility is established, individual criminal liability.”

Earlier, the Washington administration imposed sanctions on more than 60 organizations, individuals, and vessels for their ties to Iran.
