Kazakhstan and Singapore will expand cooperation in the fields of multimodal transport, trade, and digitalization, with a primary focus on the development of the Middle Corridor.
According to “Elchi”, the relevant memorandum was signed between the companies of the two countries – “Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd” and “Singapore Cooperation Enterprise” – following the meeting between the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, and the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong.
The document provides for the application of modern approaches to the development of transport and trade ecosystems, the digitalization of logistics processes, and the improvement of the efficiency of multimodal transport. Special attention will be paid to unlocking the potential of the Middle Corridor, which connects China and Central Asian countries with European markets via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed prospects for the future expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation. In the first six months of 2026, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Singapore increased 2.5 times compared to the same period last year, reaching $777 million. By the end of 2025, the total inflow of foreign direct investment from Singapore to Kazakhstan amounted to approximately $1.5 billion.
Promising areas of bilateral cooperation mentioned include digitalization, artificial intelligence, the agro-industrial complex, and the transport-logistics sector.
In addition, Kazakhstan and Singapore signed a cooperation agreement providing for the exchange of experience in the field of sustainable management of urban water resources and waste, as well as the professional development of Kazakhstani specialists.
