Former US President Donald Trump claimed “significant progress” has been made in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. However, he criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for targeting Russian diesel refineries – actions that have severely damaged global diesel markets – and stated that Zelensky does not want to end the war.
elchi reports that Trump shared these views on the social media platform “Truth Social”.
Trump emphasized that he does not want to take any steps that could “foolishly” push Russia away from the negotiating table, while trying to continue peace talks regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Claiming that great progress has been made in the negotiations, including ongoing discussions about prisoners of war, Trump stated that he could sign a peace agreement “anytime he wants”.
Noting that Russia has done very little, perhaps even “nothing” to help Iran, Trump added: “I want the situation to remain as it is, and if foolish people don’t interfere, I will ensure it remains that way.”
