At least €70 billion in additional support from the European Union (EU) will be needed for Ukraine’s defense, armament, and resilience next year.
elchi reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in a post on his Telegram channel.
“In 2027, the war will cost €155 billion. And you need at least an additional €70 billion from us: for defense, for weapons, and for our resilience. This is a realistic amount,” Zelensky said in his speech at a meeting with EU leaders.
According to him, the additional funding will allow Ukraine to counter Russia and increase pressure on its economy.
Zelensky also called on the EU to consider Ukraine’s army and defense technologies’ contribution to ensuring Europe’s security in the EU budget starting from 2028.
“It is the strength of Ukraine, our army and technologies, that help ensure the security of Europe, as well as yours,” the Ukrainian President stated.
