“We firmly condemn and reject the attempt by the spokesperson of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in a statement dated September 17 to justify the travel warning to Azerbaijan with allegations of ‘risk of arbitrary detention and unfair trial’.”
“Elchi” reports that Aykhan Hajizada, Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said this while commenting on the position of the spokesperson of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs regarding the travel warning to Azerbaijan.
According to him, presenting judicial processes carried out in accordance with Azerbaijani legislation on individual criminal cases based on political considerations and attempts to interfere with the Azerbaijani judicial system are unacceptable.
“It cannot go unnoticed that the French side, while making such accusations against Azerbaijan, does not take into account the existing problems in its own law enforcement and penitentiary system. Along with this, the French side’s activities such as international legal violations, racism, discrimination, and restriction of human rights are known to everyone.
We call on the French side to refrain from baseless and biased claims regarding Azerbaijan, to respect the sovereignty and internal affairs of our country, and to put an end to approaches that harm bilateral relations,” the MFA official emphasized.
