The meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf countries and Iran, which was scheduled to be held today in Oman to discuss regulations regarding the Strait of Hormuz, did not take place. It has been announced that the meeting has been postponed to a later date.
“Elchi” reports that there has been a new development regarding the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf countries and Iran, which was expected to be held in Oman on Monday to review measures related to the Strait of Hormuz. Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi stated in a post on his social media account that the meeting was postponed “for the sake of consensus.” Al-Busaidi used the expression, “We remain committed to developing dialogue that supports stability and lasting cooperation in our region.”
Mohammad Ali Bek, Director General of the Persian Gulf Department of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also confirmed the news, saying: “At the request of some regional countries and by the joint decision of Oman and Iran, the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries with access to the Persian Gulf, which was scheduled for Monday, has been moved to another date.” Stating that Iran will continue its contacts with Oman, Bek noted that necessary steps will be taken to determine a new date for the meeting.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in an interview with “India Today” on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, had announced that the foreign ministers of the region’s Arab countries would gather in Oman on Monday to reach an agreement on the transit route through the Strait of Hormuz.
