France experienced its hottest summer since 1900

France’s Minister of Ecological Transition, Monique Barbut, announced that the country experienced its hottest summer in 2026 since weather records began in 1900.
“Elchi” reports that France’s Minister of Ecological Transition, Monique Barbut, made a statement in the city of Saint-Mandé regarding the extreme heat and forest fires that affected the country during the summer months. Noting that France has experienced its hottest summer since records began in 1900, Barbut stated that this year’s summer season will go down in history.
Barbut noted that classes were suspended in some schools due to the hot weather and also touched upon the issue of forest fires. Stating that some houses were destroyed and many people lost their lives due to the hot weather, Barbut said: “France needs solutions in every area of life and the economy to adapt to climate change. We will not be able to renovate all schools by next summer, but we will install window shutters and fans.”
