On September 2, 2026, the Poland-based “Nexta” channel disseminated information regarding a fire incident near Nizami village in the Goranboy district of Azerbaijan, based on subjective considerations, attempting to present the issue against the backdrop of interstate political relations and aimed at misleading public opinion.
“Elchi” reports that this was noted in a statement issued by the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDIA).
Analyses show that these events are part of a hybrid information campaign managed from a single center. The Western media, which constantly accuses forces outside its own information environment of hybrid warfare, is itself conducting an organized disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan.
This fact once again demonstrates that since the normalization of relations between neighboring states in the region and the strengthening of stability and prosperity do not serve the interests of certain circles, classic cases of disinformation aimed at polluting our country’s information space and creating artificial panic in society have intensified.
Monitoring and analysis of the general information environment show that recently, a campaign of spreading untrue information against Azerbaijan has been observed in a number of Western media resources. In particular, the obvious one-sided approach and unfounded considerations in materials published by the UK’s “The Independent” and “The Guardian” newspapers, the “BBC” broadcasting company, the US “CNN” television channel, France’s “Le Monde” newspaper, Poland’s “TVP” television channel, and other resources are part of an information attack targeting Azerbaijan’s international image.
The dissemination of such hypotheses and claims should be assessed as an open manifestation of information manipulation.
“The Media Development Agency will continue to take necessary measures to investigate such cases and prevent disinformation attempts aimed at casting a shadow over the country’s sovereignty, domestic and foreign policy, as well as its international reputation,” the statement emphasized.
