The next meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held at the administrative building of the CICA Secretariat in Astana under the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan.
At the committee meeting, activities carried out within the framework of the CICA Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the theme “Stronger CICA: digitalization, connectivity, and sustainable development in Asia” regarding the strengthening of trust and expansion of cooperation among member states were discussed.
Information was provided by the Chairmanship on developments regarding the agenda of CICA’s transformation into an international organization, including progress made within the framework of negotiations on the relevant draft Charter, and an exchange of views took place regarding the positions of the member states.
Preparatory issues for the CICA Summit to be held in Baku this year, as well as initial discussions on the draft final documents of the Summit proposed by the Azerbaijani Chairmanship, took place at the meeting.
In addition, in accordance with the Committee’s agenda, issues related to the composition and structural development of the CICA Secretariat, the expansion of its international partnerships, as well as concept papers on priority areas across various dimensions of the Conference’s cooperation were discussed.
An exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest in the CICA space, including its institutional development, initiatives put forward in this context, and events that have taken place.
