US President says he is not sure about wanting to reach an agreement with Iran

US President Donald Trump has stated that he is not sure he wants to reach an agreement with Iran.

elchi reports that he said this in response to journalists’ questions at the NATO summit in Ankara.

Trump noted that he previously considered Iranian leaders to be very rational people, but has changed his mind following their actions in recent weeks.

“I have gotten to know them better. I thought the Iranians were more rational, but it is clear from the steps they have taken over the last week or two that they are not serving the interests of the Iranian people,” Trump declared.

According to the US leader, Tehran wants to reach an agreement, but does not know how to do it.

“I am not sure I want to make a deal with them. We can play games, but I am not sure I want to make a deal. Let’s just get it done,” he said.

Trump reiterated that the main demand of the US is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He added that he does not like Tehran’s actions, including night attacks on ships.

The US leader noted that he does not expect military operations to resume with Iran. According to him, if a conflict were to start again, everything would happen very quickly, and the US would respond to Iran’s actions with larger-scale strikes. Trump emphasized that Washington is speaking to Tehran in its own language and is not seeking a long-term confrontation.
