Claims of a payment plan for the Strait of Hormuz

It has been alleged that Iran and Oman have submitted a proposal to the US that envisions the joint collection of administrative fees for the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
elchi reports that if this plan is accepted, it will fundamentally change the status of the strait, through which cargo ships passed without any payment before the war.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed last month, the US and Iran have agreed that ships will pass through the strait safely and freely for 60 days.
Under the agreement, after this period, the management of the critical waterway will be determined through negotiations between Iran and Oman, along with other Persian Gulf countries.
Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi stated in an interview this week that they do not support the imposition of mandatory transit fees on ships.
Minister Al-Busaidi stated that, as in the Strait of Malacca and the Singapore Strait, a distinction should be made between mandatory transit fees collected from shipping companies for the maintenance of the vital waterway and voluntary fees.
Sources close to the negotiations stated that the plan was recently submitted to the US, while a Middle East official stated that despite consultations with the US on possible mechanisms, Oman has not yet submitted an official proposal.
