Serious deficiencies discovered in 10 animal slaughter points

Out of 84 actively operating animal slaughter points in Azerbaijan, the situation in 10 has been determined to be completely unsatisfactory.

“Elchi” reports that the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA) has released information regarding this matter.

It was stated that currently, 84 out of 98 slaughter points across the country are actively operating.

During the inspections, the sanitary-hygienic and sanitary-technical condition of 27 out of the 84 operating animal slaughter points in the republic was considered satisfactory. The situation in 47 points was determined to be partially satisfactory, while in 10 points, it was found to be completely unsatisfactory.

During the monitoring, mandatory instructions were given to the owners of the points where veterinary-sanitary and sanitary-hygienic standards were violated to eliminate the deficiencies in a short period of time. AQTA has warned that the operations of entrepreneurs who do not bring their facilities into compliance with technical and sanitary standards within the specified time, as well as those who continue to violate legal requirements, will be suspended.

“The results of the monitoring show that currently, there are no animal slaughter points or they are not operational in 33 districts and cities of the republic. The lack of slaughter infrastructure hinders the full implementation of the animal identification mechanism in those areas and increases the risk of illegal slaughter. For this reason, it is essential to establish modern slaughter points in those districts to ensure the population is provided with safe meat products and to fundamentally eliminate illegal slaughter,” the statement emphasized.
