Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has sent a request to 40 countries regarding the urgent supply of “Patriot” systems

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has appealed to 40 partner countries with a request to accelerate the supply of “Patriot” missiles and contributions within the framework of the PURL and JUMPSTART programs.

elchi reports that this was stated in a declaration by the defense agency.

“The Minister of Defense of Ukraine (Mykhailo Fedorov – ed.) has already sent letters to nearly 40 partner countries requesting the immediate transfer of “Patriot” missiles from existing stocks to Ukraine this very month, as well as calling for contributions within the PURL and JUMPSTART mechanisms. These are the fastest and most reliable ways to supply the necessary missiles for “Patriot”. It is critically important that the decision be made on the eve of the NATO summit,” the agency noted.

It was stated that in order to provide Ukraine with anti-ballistic missiles, the Ministry of Defense, with the support of Germany, concluded a record contract for hundreds of “PAC-2” missiles for “Patriot” for the first time in April, with deliveries to begin over the coming years. Also, for the first time, a step was taken to purchase nearly a hundred missiles for “Patriot” worth 1 billion dollars at the expense of an EU loan. This year, Ukraine has also begun purchasing missiles from the warehouses of European partners for the first time.

According to Fedorov, this is not enough, because overnight Russia carried out one of its largest attacks on Ukraine, using nearly 500 strike drones, as well as 77 missiles, 25 of which were ballistic or hypersonic. Despite the interception of most of them, the strikes claimed the lives of more than 20 people and caused serious damage to Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
