Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky discussed Russia’s recent strikes on Kyiv and Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure during a phone call.
“Elchi” reports that Alexander Stubb announced this on the “X” social network.
“I had a good phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Finland condemns Russia’s strikes on civilian objects in Ukraine last night. Ukraine is in a good position on the front line, but it needs support to strengthen its air defense,” he wrote.
Stubb also emphasized that Finland supports Ukraine’s desire for a ceasefire and a just peace.
Zelensky noted that the parties discussed opportunities to strengthen Ukraine’s defense: “It is impossible to protect against ballistic missiles without enough relevant missiles for ‘Patriot’. This is our biggest priority now. We discussed who among our partners can help and exactly how. We will work on this,” he wrote on his Telegram channel regarding the results of the conversation.
The Ukrainian leader also added that diplomats discussed bilateral defense cooperation: “We are preparing to conclude important agreements in the near future.”
Stubb and Zelensky also discussed preparations for the upcoming NATO summit to be held in Ankara.
It should be noted that on the night of July 2, Russian troops launched another large-scale strike on Ukrainian territory, with Kyiv being the main target. According to the latest information, 22 people died as a result of the strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on the capital region.
