Sahil Babayev: BSTDB has maintained the region’s resilience

The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) has maintained the region’s resilience.

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Sahil Babayev, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan and BSTDB Governor for Azerbaijan, during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 28th Annual Meeting of the BSTDB Board of Governors.

He noted that holding the meeting in Baku is an indicator of Azerbaijan’s close cooperation with the Bank, as well as its shared commitments to regional cooperation, connectivity, and sustainable development.

According to the Minister, the BSTDB’s 2025 annual report demonstrates the resilience of the Black Sea region. Specifically, real GDP in the region grew by 2.9% last year, the macroeconomic fundamentals of member countries were generally preserved, nine sovereign credit ratings were upgraded across six countries, and no ratings were downgraded.

Sahil Babayev noted that Azerbaijan continues its reforms in the areas of economic diversification, strengthening fiscal resilience, digital transformation, and private sector development. He added that the country is further strengthening its role as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia through investments in transport and connectivity projects.
