Germany and the Netherlands have established a military command center in the Baltic region to deter Russia as part of preparations for the NATO summit.
“Elchi” reports that Bloomberg has provided information on this matter.
The 1st German-Netherlands Corps has taken over the command of a portion of the alliance’s eastern flank defense from the Multinational Corps Northeast. The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday in the Estonian city of Valga, located on the border with Latvia. “By adding another highly capable headquarters to NATO’s eastern flank, we will increase our combat readiness, strengthen command and control structures, and enhance our ability to deter any potential adversary,” said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
The new headquarters will serve as a tactical command center for NATO units in Estonia and Latvia, as well as for national forces. It will be responsible for conducting exercises, training, and the defense of the region in the event of a potential conflict.
