STP: More than 11,000 administrative offenses related to mobile phone use while driving detected this year

Observations show that since the beginning of this year alone, more than 11,000 administrative offenses related to the use of mobile phones while driving have been detected.

elchi reports that this was stated in the information from the Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It was noted that this statistic shows that some drivers have not yet completely abandoned this dangerous habit that distracts attention:

“Inattention caused by the use of a mobile phone is one of the main risk factors that can lead to serious traffic accidents. Preventing this danger depends not only on control measures but also on each driver taking traffic rules seriously and focusing their attention solely on the road while behind the wheel.”

The Main State Traffic Police Department once again reminded of the main dangers caused by mobile phone use:

Distraction: A driver looking at a phone cannot timely assess what is happening on the road and may miss road signs, lane markings, pedestrians, and other road users.

Delayed reaction: The reaction of a driver busy with a phone slows down significantly, which limits braking or maneuvering capabilities in the event of a sudden danger.

Loss of control: Attention directed at a mobile phone causes the driver to drift out of the lane, make dangerous maneuvers, and fail to correctly assess the distance to the vehicle ahead.

“Let us not forget that no call, message, or notification is more valuable than human life. Responsible behavior behind the wheel means protecting not only our own safety but also the life of every person on the road,” the statement says.
