One thousand people died during the heatwave in France

The French Public Health Agency announced a significant increase in the number of deaths during the week when the record-breaking heatwave was felt most severely, especially in the Paris region.
elchi reports that World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that Europe is the fastest-warming continent in the world and called for more steps to be taken to protect citizens.
Although many countries broke temperature records over the weekend, forest fires broke out in Germany, and Berlin police used water cannons to cool down the crowds.
As the heatwave moved toward the east of the continent, Neissemünde on the German-Polish border reached 41.7 degrees Celsius, breaking a record for the third consecutive day.
The Czech Republic experienced its hottest day in history at 41.1 degrees Celsius. The World Weather Attribution group, created by scientists, stated that the cause of these record temperatures and humidity in Europe is climate change.
Deaths are rising rapidly in France
More than 1,200 deaths were recorded on Wednesday when temperatures in France reached their peak, and the daily death toll exceeded 1,400 in the following two days.
Before the heatwave, the average daily death toll in April and May was between 900 and 1,000.
The Public Health Agency stated that at least 1,000 additional deaths occurred in these three days alone and that this figure would increase as data on deaths at home are collected. It was reported that 85 percent of the deaths were among people aged 65 and over.
