It is impossible to imagine the summer season without beaches. Especially since the saline nature of Baku and Absheron is not suitable for forests and rivers, the only option remains seaside recreation. However, not all beaches are suitable for a safe vacation.
elchi reports, citing Bizim.media, that the cleanliness of the seawater, the sanitary condition of the coast, the presence of lifeguard services, and general safety measures are the main qualities that vacationers look for.
Every year, citizens are in search of the cleanest beaches, asking each other for the best locations. But this fact can change from year to year, as water quality is re-tested every season. In recent monitoring, the beaches of Bilgah, Pirshagi, Shuvalan, and Mardakan are reported to have seawater with physical-chemical and bacteriological indicators within the norm, and they are considered better choices due to the presence of lifeguard services and calm coastlines for safety reasons.
There is another problem that worries people about the sea every year: can seawater cause skin problems?
Dermatologists confirm that it can. Even on the cleanest beach, salt water can dry out the skin and increase irritation in people with sensitive skin or eczema. Long-term exposure to the sun, salt, and wind damages the skin’s protective layer.
If there is an open wound, scratch, or acne, the risk of infection increases. Especially for people with atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and frequent allergic rashes, the sea is not recommended. If they cannot live without the sea, they should take a fresh water shower immediately after getting out of the water before the skin dries. Following this, it is beneficial to use a moisturizer.
