Following the liberation of Karabakh, the cooperation between the Islamic Development Bank Group and Azerbaijan has expanded.
elchi reports that this was stated by the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Muhammad Al Jasser, while speaking about the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the group at an event organized within the framework of the IsDB Group’s annual meetings held in Baku.
He noted that the cooperation between the Islamic Development Bank and Azerbaijan has been ongoing for many years, and various projects have been implemented during this period.
“Since the beginning of our relations, we have had projects in Azerbaijan worth more than 1.3 billion US dollars. Currently, we are accelerating this pace, especially after the liberation of Karabakh, our cooperation is expanding,” said Muhammad Al Jasser.
The IsDB Group Chairman noted that he has visited the region twice to see the restoration and reconstruction work in Karabakh firsthand.
“The development taking place is quite impressive. One of the first projects we financed was related to the water and irrigation system. Currently, we are working on a major project worth over 430 million US dollars. This project involves the restoration of canals and the prevention of water loss,” he emphasized.
Muhammad Al Jasser added that the bank is also considering projects for Azerbaijan in other important infrastructure areas.
“We are looking at other areas, including highways, transport infrastructure, and even railways. We are ready to support the transformational projects that the government plans to implement in the near future,” the IsDB head said.
He noted that the Islamic Development Bank is proud to be a reliable partner for the President and the government of Azerbaijan.
