“Despite the large-scale measures implemented regarding the development of the agrarian sector, the President noted the stagnation observed in the country’s agrarian sector over the last few years during the meeting and openly stated that the current dynamics in the production of agricultural products do not satisfy him. Based on the instructions given by the head of state to the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers, a new comprehensive and inclusive State Program for the development of agriculture has been prepared”.
elchi reports that this was stated by Khalid Ahadov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Socio-Economic Issues, during his speech at the regional meeting for the Mountainous Shirvan economic region held in Ismayilli within the framework of the “State Program for the development of production and processing of agricultural, fishing and aquaculture products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030”.
The Presidential Aide noted that this program is a strategic document that defines a new development model for the agrarian sector for the upcoming period and acts as an important roadmap in terms of increasing production in the agrarian sector, efficient use of resources, expanding processing and export opportunities, and transitioning the development of value chains, as well as the fishing and aquaculture sectors, to a new stage: “The main goal is not just to increase the volume of production, but to obtain higher quality products from each hectare, that is, to ensure the transition from an extensive approach to intensive development in the agrarian sector.
The State Program envisages ensuring sustainable development in the field of agricultural production in 2026-2030, strengthening food security, increasing domestic production potential, productivity, added value and export orientation, accelerating the transition to an intensive and competitive production model, developing value chains in the agrarian sector, expanding farmers’ access to modern agrarian services, as well as the development of fishing and aquaculture sectors”.
