Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz to all ship traffic

The Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, a unit of the Iranian Armed Forces conducting military operations, announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz following US attacks on areas surrounding the strait.

The statement said: “Due to security concerns in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is henceforth closed to all types of vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships, and any attempts to pass will be prevented.” Following this warning, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had struck two ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz illegally.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that, on the orders of US President Donald Trump, it had launched “self-defense” strikes against numerous targets in Iran and that areas in southern Iran were subjected to US attacks.
