US Secretary of State and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister discuss the situation around Iran

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a meeting in Washington.

“Elchi” reports, citing a statement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the officials discussed the development of bilateral cooperation and the situation around Iran during the meeting.

It was noted that the parties condemned Iran’s recent attacks on the emirate’s territory. “Kuwait reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the ministry stated.

Rubio and Al-Sabah also discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of politics, defense, and investment. They emphasized the importance of coordinating US and Kuwaiti efforts to ensure security and stability in the region.

Following the meeting, the Secretary of State noted the US commitment to the security of Kuwait and all its partners in the Persian Gulf, adding that the two states are united in their vision regarding regional stability, as well as an open and free Strait of Hormuz.

It should be recalled that on June 3, one person was killed and 63 were injured as a result of drone attacks by Iran on Kuwait airport. However, Iran later denied striking the airport, claiming that the destruction was caused by a missile belonging to the US “Patriot” air defense system falling on the airport.
