The leader of the Moderate Coalition Party, Ulf Kristersson, has announced that he is stepping down as Prime Minister of Sweden.
elchi reports that he has submitted his resignation request to the Speaker of the Parliament.
“Now the Speaker must lead the next steps for the formation of a new government,” Kristersson wrote in a letter published on the “X” social network.
In the elections held on September 13, the opposition center-left bloc (Swedish Social Democratic Party, Left Party, Green Party, Centre Party) won by a narrow margin over the ruling center-right alliance (Moderate Coalition Party, Liberal Party, Christian Democrats, Sweden Democrats) with 49.5% against 48.9% of the votes, securing 176 mandates against 173.
