Goyal: “Customs and trade tariffs with Washington have been definitively agreed upon”

The first part of the bilateral trade agreement between India and the US will be signed in the near future.

“Elchi” reports that Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced this at a press conference.

“The leaders of both countries announced the framework agreement back on February 3. All key points have been agreed upon,” he said. “I am fully confident that we will conclude the first part of the bilateral trade agreement with the US as soon as possible,” Goyal added.

According to the minister, the structure of customs tariffs between India and the US will be definitively confirmed within the framework of this agreement.

It is expected that the negotiating teams of India and the US will finalize the details of the bilateral trade agreement and review the development of trade relations during consultations to be held in New Delhi on June 2-4. In this round of talks, the delegations of the two countries will discuss areas such as market access, non-tariff measures, simplification of customs and trade procedures, investment stimulation, and ensuring coordination in the field of economic security.
