UN accuses Russia and Israel of committing sexual violence in conflicts

Israeli and Russian security forces have been blacklisted in the latest UN report regarding sexual violence during armed conflicts.

elchi reports that in the document, the UN has confirmed 31 cases of sexual violence against Palestinian men, women, and children from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank between 2023 and 2025.

The report notes that the identified violations included gang rape and the use of sexual violence as a form of torture.

Specifically, according to the UN, Israel has restricted access to the Gaza Strip and created risks for Palestinian detainees reporting abuse.

Russia, in turn, is accused of obstructing investigations into “systemic” sexual violence against Ukrainians, including prisoners of war and civilians. The UN has recorded 310 cases of violence committed by Russian forces. While the majority of victims are men, women and children are also among them.
