In the future, the assessment of speaking skills in foreign languages may be implemented in graduation exams.
This was stated by Maleyka Abbaszade, Chairperson of the State Examination Center (SEC).
The SEC Chairperson noted that currently, three components and skills are being tested in these exams: “Speaking skills in foreign languages are not yet being tested in graduation exams. The test block includes tasks that assess reading comprehension and listening comprehension. However, there may be changes regarding the assessment of speaking skills in the next stages.”
She also stated that next year, it is planned for 11th-grade students to write a short essay consisting of one hundred words in the foreign language subject during the graduation exam: “Completing this task may require adding approximately 15 minutes to the total exam time. The matter is currently under discussion. The normative-legal documents must also be in accordance with this. If approved, it will be officially announced.”
Maleyka Abbaszade also announced that the digitalization of informatics exams is planned for the future: “At the same time, the digitalization of some exams, such as the master’s degree entrance exam, is planned. Phased changes are being made in this direction. The second stage of the residency entrance exam will also be electronic starting this year.”(Apa)
