The Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued an appeal to road users.
According to the information provided to elchi by the Department, the appeal states:
“The analysis of pedestrian accidents occurring in recent days requires reminding of a number of dangerous points once again. Thus, the recorded incidents give reason to say once again that most pedestrians still do not pay attention to traffic rules, have a habit of crossing the road anywhere, use headphones while crossing the road, or are preoccupied with activities that distract their attention and make them forget that they are in a dangerous area – in short, indifference to the simplest safety rules is one of the main causes of tragedies on our roads.
However, every road user should know that the road is a space for shared use. In this environment, where rules apply to everyone, any road user, including a pedestrian, who considers themselves outside the general norms of behavior can become a potential victim of a tragedy.”
The Traffic Police stated that the simplest, yet life-critical duty of pedestrians is to cross the road only at designated crossings and with caution:
“We must not forget that a pedestrian who does not follow this simple rule can change their own fate and the fate of other road users, whether intentionally or through negligence.”
