The Institute of Education has presented the framework document for the competency-based monitoring to be held in June for 4th-grade students in reading (language of instruction) and mathematics, and for 6th-grade students in reading (language of instruction), mathematics, and science.
elchi reports that the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARTI) has released information regarding this.
It was stated that this document was prepared with the support of an international group of experts within the framework of cooperation between ARTI and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
“The framework document is the main conceptual document that determines what and how the assessment measures. This document ensures a unified approach, consistency, and transparency in the process of preparing, implementing, and reporting the results of the assessment.
As a novelty this year, a total of 27 tasks covering 2 texts will be compiled for the 4th-grade language of instruction subject. Of these, 2 will be open-ended written tasks (1 open-ended task for each text), and 3 image-based tasks aimed at measuring students’ word recognition skills will also be provided. For mathematics, a total of 5 open-ended tasks are planned, 3 of which will not require a solution, and 2 will be open-ended tasks requiring a solution.
For 6th-grade language of instruction, a total of 25 tasks covering 5 texts will be compiled. Of these, 2 will be open-ended written tasks (1 open-ended task for each of the 2 selected texts), and the structure of the questions for mathematics is the same as for the 4th grade: 3 open-ended tasks not requiring a solution and 2 open-ended tasks requiring a solution will be provided,” the statement noted.
