24 people convicted of spying for IRGC in Bahrain

On Wednesday, the Bahraini High Criminal Court sentenced 24 individuals accused of spying for the IRGC, supporting Iranian attacks on the country, and committing violence and destruction concurrent with those attacks.

elchi reports that this information was published by “Asharq Al-Awsat”.

Three of the convicted individuals received life sentences, ten were sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, and fines and confiscation of property were also imposed. Three others will be deported from the country after serving their sentences.

The head of the Public Prosecution for Terrorist Crimes stated that one of the main cases involved a woman found guilty of espionage via social media: she shared photographs and coordinates of Bahrain’s strategically important facilities, as well as materials considered dangerous to the country’s military, political, and economic potential. The court sentenced her to life imprisonment.

Investigations into another case showed that Iranian intelligence services and IRGC leaders directed individuals to monitor strategic facilities in Bahrain.

The head of the prosecution emphasized that such crimes against state security and public order are severely punished, and the use of social media to justify terrorist acts or disseminate prohibited information constitutes a criminal offense.
