The number of people held accountable for human trafficking has been revealed.
elchi reports that this was noted in the “Annual Report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking,” which was discussed at a joint meeting of the Human Rights, Legal Policy, and State Building Committees of the Milli Majlis.
It was noted that last year, courts sentenced 14 human traffickers to imprisonment (including 3 with suspended sentences), consisting of 4 men and 10 women, with 2 cases dating back to previous years. Of these, 3 were given suspended prison sentences.
Out of 31 accused persons wanted locally for human trafficking (15), forcing into sexual acts, circulation of child pornography, illegal distribution of pornographic materials or objects, inducing prostitution, and maintaining brothels, 15 were arrested, including 3 (confirmed) human traffickers.
