Necessary measures taken for the rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of human trafficking have been announced

Necessary measures taken for the rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of human trafficking have been announced.

elchi reports that this was noted in the “Annual Report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking,” which was discussed at a joint meeting of the Human Rights, Legal Policy, and State Building Committees of the Milli Majlis.

It was noted that in 2025, each victim was paid a one-time allowance of 700 manats. All of them were placed in the relevant shelter of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and provided with medical (HIV, AIDS, STIs, gynecological, therapeutic), social, psychological, and legal assistance, as well as necessary clothing.

Another 16 victims were directed to vocational courses, 9 victims were assisted in finding employment, 6 were provided with identity cards, 1 victim was assisted with treatment in a medical facility, 11 victims were helped in obtaining targeted social assistance, and 23 victims were assisted in returning to their families.

It was stated that analysis and research show that human trafficking mainly forms in regions where poverty and unemployment, lack of education and information, corruption and gender inequality, armed conflicts, and deep socio-economic problems exist, and it continues in the exploitation phase in countries where there is a demand for cheap labor and commercial sexual services are accepted as legal activities.

However, the fact that national and moral values are always prioritized in Azerbaijan, the strength of the family institution, social responsibility, and the complex measures implemented by the state in the fields of law, economy, social affairs, education, and security play an important role as a social pillar in the fight against human trafficking, and it is no coincidence that the crime of human trafficking does not even constitute one percent of the crimes recorded in our country (0.6 percent).

The aforementioned points give reason to say that human trafficking is not a characteristic illegal act for Azerbaijan.
