Azerbaijani Cinema Days are being held in Turkey

Azerbaijani Cinema Days are being held in Turkey.

This was reported by the Azerbaijan Cultural Center operating in Turkey.

The days, organized within the framework of the Turan Film Festival, kicked off with an official opening ceremony held at Ege University in Izmir.

The event was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, and the Azerbaijan Cultural Center under our embassy in Turkey. Within the framework of the project, new Azerbaijani films will be presented to audiences in the Turkish cities of Izmir and Bursa.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Mehmet Ersan, General Coordinator of the Turan Film Festival in Turkey and Vice-Rector of Ege University, spoke about the historical friendship and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. He stated that the main purpose of holding the Azerbaijani Cinema Days within the framework of the Turan Film Festival, one of the prestigious cultural events covering the Turkic world, is to promote newly produced films from brotherly Azerbaijan in Turkey and the wider Turkic world.

In his speech, Rashad Mammadov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey, emphasized that the existing brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey manifest themselves most strongly in culture and art, alongside all other fields. The Ambassador noted that these days serve to promote our culture, introduce our films, and facilitate a deeper understanding of our country’s history and culture.

Rufat Garazada, Assistant to the General Director of the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, spoke about the event and the screened film “Nargin: Mysterious Until the End”.

The event was attended by government representatives in Izmir, leadership from our embassy in Ankara, the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, the Izmir Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, local Azerbaijanis, and university faculty and students.

Afterward, the film “Nargin: Mysterious Until the End” was presented to the audience.

The film’s screenwriter and director Khayyam Abdullayev, as well as the lead actress Gunel Imanova, also attended the event.

The film depicts the difficult life of Ottoman prisoners held on Nargin Island, located in the Caspian Sea near Baku, as well as the brotherly assistance, compassion, and humanitarian values shown by the Azerbaijani people to those prisoners.

The Azerbaijani Cinema Days events in Turkey are ongoing.
