“During the monitoring conducted within the scope of its powers, the Milli Majlis Temporary Commission on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats (Commission) has observed that a disinformation campaign targeting Azerbaijan, as well as the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan, has been carried out in recent days.”
elchi reports that this was reflected in the statement of the Milli Majlis Temporary Commission on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats regarding the information campaign carried out against Azerbaijan by pro-Armenian circles.
It was noted that investigations revealed the campaign is targeted and conducted around a unified thesis by Armenian lobby organizations operating in various countries around the world, certain foreign citizens with influence and positions, as well as media outlets:
“This time, Armenian lobby organizations have chosen a different tactic for their smear campaign, creating hype around several issues, including the fabricated ‘genocide’, ‘prisoners of war’, and structures in the city of Khankendi. At the same time, facts have been discovered that theses were provided to participants through closed channels, email, and encrypted messaging platforms so that the matter would not appear as a coordinated campaign.
Armenian lobby organizations based in the USA, Europe, and Russia have distinguished themselves with special activity in the campaign.
An analysis of the campaign on the “X” (formerly “Twitter“) social media platform over the last week has shown that more than 220 posts were made through 130 different accounts in the disinformation campaign, and a total of nearly one million interactions (reactions) were recorded. The posts were mostly made from the accounts of bloggers of Armenian descent, Armenian news sites, as well as pro-Armenian foreign bloggers and activists.
In addition, articles based on similar theses have appeared in a number of less influential online media outlets located in the foreign countries mentioned below:
USA, United Kingdom, Belgium, Poland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Georgia, Israel, Vatican, Greece, India, Russia, Armenia, etc.
The facts identified by the Commission once again show that these circles, which prioritize their personal goals above all else and once obtained high dividends from the conflict, are trying to strike a blow to the fragile peace process ongoing between Armenia and Azerbaijan and spoil interstate relations by using all means, including the services of their puppets in foreign parliaments, a number of city mayors, and persons currently or formerly holding certain positions.”
