On the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, another “Friendship Cup” minifootball tournament was organized among teams consisting of 10-11-year-old boys and girls raised in children’s homes.
“Elchi” reports that the main purpose of organizing the tournament is to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity among children growing up in social service institutions, as well as to support their integration into society and create conditions for building new friendships.
Teams from children’s homes located in Baku, Ganja, Lankaran, and Shaki, operating under the Social Services Agency, participated in the competition organized by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan.
In the competition, the teams tested their strength under the names “Zafar”, “Shahinlar”, “Birlik”, “Kapaz”, “Khan”, and “Gala”. High sportsmanship and friendly relations were observed among the girls and boys.
Leyla Aliyeva, who attended the event, watched the games, supported the teams, had sincere conversations with the children, and took commemorative photos with them. Wishing the participants success, Leyla Aliyeva emphasized the importance of holding such initiatives regularly.
At the end of the tournament, the winning teams were awarded diplomas, medals, and a cup. The teams that took second and third places were also awarded medals and diplomas.
At the end of the event, educators and organizers stated that such initiatives have a positive impact on children’s lives and contribute to strengthening their self-confidence and social connections. They expressed their gratitude for the continuous organization of such social projects.
It should be noted that the “Friendship Cup” minifootball tournament has become a tradition since last year. The competition held this year was also organized as a successful continuation of that initiative.
