On April 30, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Republic of Korea’s candidate for the position of judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Han-Hyun Paik.
According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the MFA, during the meeting, an exchange of views took place regarding activities within the framework of international organizations, including issues related to the upcoming ICJ judge elections.
Han-Hyun Paik provided detailed information about his professional activities, his experience in the field of international law, and the directions he plans to prioritize at the ICJ.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance Azerbaijan attaches to the rule of international law, multilateral cooperation, and strengthening the role of international judicial institutions. In this context, it was stated that Azerbaijan approaches the ICJ judge elections comprehensively and carefully considers the professional qualities of the candidates.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on regional security issues, including the current situation in the South Caucasus region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other party about the measures taken by Azerbaijan to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region during the post-conflict period.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
