The Netherlands has concluded its participation in the “Inherent Resolve” international operation against the “Islamic State” (ISIS) terrorist group in Iraq.
elchi reports that the kingdom’s Minister of Defense, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, announced this.
“The ‘Inherent Resolve’ operation in Iraq has concluded. Over the past 12 years, more than 6.3 thousand Dutch soldiers, alongside international partners, have participated in expelling ISIS terrorists from Iraq, often under difficult conditions,” she wrote on the social network “X”.
The Ministry of Defense’s statement clarifies that the country joined this operation in October 2014. The counter-terrorism operation in Iraq, led by the United States, has been halted, but the mission continues its activities in Syria. The Netherlands also continues its participation in a separate NATO mission for training and advising Iraqi security forces.
