Six crew members of the “TOUSKA” ship, which was reported to have been detained by the US in the Gulf of Oman, have been released.
“Elchi” reports that the “Tasnim” agency has provided information regarding this matter.
It was stated that there were 28 Iranians on board when the container ship was seized:
“Due to the fact that the Iranian crew members were on the ship with their families, military intervention to release the ship was avoided at the current stage,” the report stated, adding that official efforts for their release are ongoing and other necessary measures in this direction are being taken.
According to the information, the six released individuals are already in Iran.
“Work is underway to release the remaining 22 Iranians on the ship detained by the US,” the report recalled.
It should be noted that on April 19-20, 2026, the US Navy destroyer “USS Spruance” detained the ship. According to reports, because the ship’s crew did not comply with warnings, US military personnel struck the engine room and stopped the ship.
The US side claims that the ship was attempting to violate the maritime blockade (in the Strait of Hormuz – ed.) and was carrying cargo suitable for military purposes. The Iranian side, however, called this action a violation of international law and stated that the ship was only carrying medical supplies.
