Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke by phone with his British counterpart Yvette Cooper and discussed the regional situation.
elchi reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has released information regarding this.
It was stated that during the conversation, Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region were highly appreciated. “Pakistan’s commitment to promoting dialogue, diplomacy, and constructive interaction between the parties was reaffirmed,” the statement said, adding that both sides agreed to remain in close contact.
It should be recalled that on February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran and carried out airstrikes on a number of cities. On the same day, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the strikes. In response, Iran launched missile strikes on Israeli territory and attacked US military bases in the Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the US, and their allies reached a ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8. Trump subsequently extended the ceasefire indefinitely.
The parties tried to hold negotiations in Pakistan to resolve the conflict, but the first round held on April 11-12 did not yield any results.
The US has blockaded Iranian ports and passage through the Strait of Hormuz to pressure Tehran. In turn, Iran has announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for ships heading to the Persian Gulf. The dynamically changing situation in the region has caused a global energy crisis.
