South Korean police have launched an investigation into four companies suspected of hoarding medical syringe stocks in violation of a government ban imposed amid shortages caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
elchi reports that, according to the Yonhap news agency, this was announced by the National Investigation Office under the National Police Agency.
According to the authorities, these companies are among 32 organizations identified during an inspection conducted by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to monitor compliance with restrictions.
The regulatory body notes that the prolonged conflict in the Middle East has disrupted the supply of naphtha (petroleum raw material), which has led to a decrease in the production of a number of medical products, including syringes and intravenous infusion systems.
Once the violations were confirmed, the materials were submitted to the police, and the cases were distributed among regional units.
