Landslide at illegal mine in Colombia: 14 dead, 7 injured

A landslide at a mine where gold was illegally extracted in Colombia has resulted in the deaths of 14 people and injuries to 7 others.
elchi reports that the incident occurred in a mine located between the settlements of El Chambero and Bellavista in Colombia’s Nariño department. Officials confirmed that the area was used for illegal gold mining, stating that 14 people lost their lives and 7 were injured.
Nariño Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar expressed his solidarity with the victims’ families, saying: “Our main priority is to protect human lives, be with the families, and respond in a timely manner to this severe emergency.”
