The current detention period of well-known businessman Adnan Ahmadzadeh, accused of provoking economic security and embezzlement, has ended.
elchi reports, citing “Qafqazinfo”, that the State Security Service (SSS) has appealed to the court in this regard.
The petition stated that the 13-month investigation period for a particularly serious criminal case was not sufficient, and it was necessary to collect additional evidence for the voluminous case. Since the investigation was extended, it was requested to extend the detention period of the accused.
The Sabail District Court found the petition well-founded and granted it. By the judge’s decision, Adnan Ahmadzadeh’s detention period was extended by the maximum limit – 6 months.
According to the law, the maximum detention period during preliminary investigation for particularly serious criminal cases is 13 months. In exceptional cases, this period can be extended up to 19 months.
It should be noted that Adnan Ahmadzadeh previously held a high-ranking position at SOCAR. Later, Ahmadzadeh, known worldwide as an oil magnate, was arrested by the SSS in September of September last year.
