President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Head of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation Ramzan Kadyrov visited “Baku White City” on October 10.
elchi reports that Ruslan Sadikhov, Executive Director of the “Baku White City” project, informed the Head of the Chechen Republic of Russia about the conditions created here.
It was noted that this place was previously known as “Black City”. On this territory, polluted with oil industry waste for more than 150 years and once having numerous oil pits, a rare ecological project of global scale has been implemented at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, creating a modern residential complex.
The implementation of the “Baku White City” project, one of the most striking examples of modern urban planning concepts in the world, began on December 24, 2011, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
The project was developed based on the principles of an ecologically clean, sustainable, and “smart city”. “Baku White City” features wide internal streets, green spaces, modern international sculptural examples, and the latest innovations in urban planning.
