Ukraine’s membership in NATO is not currently on the agenda, and Washington is concentrating its attention on the issue of settling the Ukraine conflict.

“There is no ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to this question,” Rubio said in response to a journalist’s question about whether Ukraine should be a member of NATO. “Ukraine’s membership is not currently on the agenda because work must be done to form a consensus for a unified position. When it comes to Ukraine, we are simply focusing our attention on ending this conflict if possible.”
He added that the US wants to play a “constructive role” in the settlement process. “We are, of course, following the dynamics and see that the work is not currently moving in this direction (towards settlement),” the US Secretary of State said.
