The new high-voltage power transmission line (PTL) between Moldova and Romania, to be built with US funding, will be named “Trump Liberty Line”.
elchi reports that the US Embassy in Chisinau announced this.
“An important step was taken for Moldova’s energy future when the Ministry of Energy, Moldelectrica company, Black & Veatch, and the US Embassy in Chisinau established a working group on the “Trump Liberty Line Straseni – Gutinas” project. Supported by a $130 million investment from the US government, this project will strengthen the energy security and independence of the Republic of Moldova, expand opportunities for American businesses and technologies in various sectors, and deepen the economic partnership between the US and the Republic of Moldova,” the diplomatic mission’s Facebook page stated.
It was noted that the new 400 kV power transmission line between Moldova and Romania will be 190 km long. 70 km of this will pass through Moldova’s territory, and 120 km through Romania’s. This will be the third high-voltage power line between the two neighboring countries, following the “Vulcanesti-Chisinau” and “Balti-Suceava” projects.
