Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during his meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, provided information on the progress of negotiations between Tehran and Muscat regarding the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the ongoing exchange of information with the US.

“The Foreign Minister informed his Russian counterpart about the current progress of negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding ensuring the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the agreements reached, as well as the ongoing efforts of intermediaries to convey the necessary parameters and conditions for returning to the diplomatic process with the US,” the Foreign Ministry’s statement noted.
In the meeting with Lavrov, Araghchi emphasized that Iran has already demonstrated a serious approach in the diplomatic arena, but at the same time, it intends to firmly protect its interests and will not allow the US to use the Strait of Hormuz to create threats to the republic’s national security.
